The second season of The Hundred Fixtures is well underway as fans crowd to the biggest cricket grounds in England hoping for a sunny evening or afternoon of sun and entertainment.
It’s possible that sunny weather won’t be always guaranteed in the United States, but drama and entertainment in the latest format of cricket will definitely be available to people who are hoping to catch the best cricketers on the field in both the women’s and men’s game.
The tournament began on the 3rd of August and will conclude at Lord’s on September3, when the finalist compete for glory.
What exactly is Hundred format
How many balls are in The Hundred? The answer lies in the title! Each team will be bowling 100 cricket balls (compared to 120 balls in T20 cricket) instead of six ball overs there will be ten balls in the same row in each. The motivation behind this quirk is to speed up play, meaning a match will take no longer than two-and-a-half-hours.
After one team has bowled 100 ball, they change to batting and then take on 100 balls. The team that has scored more runs will win the game. Simple.
Bowlers can throw five or 10 balls in succession, and they can only deliver over 20 or more balls in a match.
A 25-ball powerplay between each team is played at the beginning of each innings , which means that two fielders are permitted to go beyond the 30-yard mark of the first circle in the powerplay.
What teams and who are part of The Hundred?
The Hundred is a mixed both a women’s and a men’s event, with seven teams from eight cities fighting to be named the champion at the conclusion of the month-long celebration.
In each event the teams face one another at home as well as away during the round of 32 matches. Whoever wins advances to the final , while teams in third and second place on the table will play against one another in a single elimination match to advance to the finale.
