A52 Crash : The A52 Derby Road has been closed due to an “serious crash” between Priory Island and Bramcote Island. The crash occurred in the direction of the outbound route and is causing congestion by the routes of Beeston, Wollaton and Trowell since traffic is diverted.
East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) received an alert at 3.16pm this morning (November 1.) the air ambulance being dispatched to the site of the accident. Two vehicles with rapid response and a crewed ambulance also sent. The patient was later transported by ambulance to Queen’s Medical Centre via a crewed ambulance.
Nottinghamshire Police officer are also on the scene. Drivers traveling through the region have been advised to consider alternative routes with delays that are long as reported by travel and traffic update website, Inrix.
A spokesperson from Highways England said the incident was an “collision involving a pedestrian and a car”.
The spokesperson added: “The carriageway is closed for emergency services to operate at the site. Police are at the site to assist in the management of traffic.
“There is significant congestion on all local routes surrounding the A52 and approximately 1 mile of congestion approaching the closure. If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra time for your journey.”
The photo taken of the scene revealed the heavy traffic on Brian Clough Drive. The lane was opened close to the scene, however the road has since been completely closed.
According to reports, traffic is growing in the area between Nottingham as well as junction 25 on the M1.
The statement issued by EMAS says: “We received a call at 3.16pm on the 1st of November Derby Road in Bramcote. The caller stated that there was a traffic accident.
“We sent two paramedics in fast response cars and a crewed ambulance. The air ambulance was also in attendance. One patient was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre via crewed ambulance.”
A spokesperson from the police stated: “The A52 Derby Road is currently closed outbound between Priory Island and Bramcote Island due to a serious collision. Please find alternative routes and avoid the area.”
Derivation route:
- To get to the A52(T) QMC roundabout, follow the A6514 to the north for 1.2km and then to the left on the A609.
- Continue on along the A609 along the A609 for 3.6km until you reach the main intersection of the crossroads that connects with the A6002 and turn left.
- Continue to the north on A6002 for 4.3km. A6002 through 4.3km until you reach the massive signalised roundabout that connects with the A610.
- After the intersection, follow the A610 westbound, and follow it for 700m.
- Use the southbound slip road to the M1 at Junction 26 and continue south until Junction 25.
- Exit the motorway and join Westbound A52(T)
