Primark EK ,After a nearly four-month wait, Lanarkshire’s largest underground shopping centre has reopened.
Restaurants and leisure outlets, as well as non-essential retail, have opened their doors. Early morning lines are already forming at EK East Kilbride.
Primark, a well-known retailer, had dozens of customers in the mall before it opened for business.
Lanarkshire Live was told by a spokesperson for the shopping center that they had been closely following government advice throughout the pandemic. “We are thrilled to be able to welcome more people to the centre now that we have received the appropriate government advice.”
“This has been a very difficult time for everyone. We would like to thank all of our retailers and employees who tirelessly work to keep the centre safe for all who shop and work here.
“Although we are happy to see the restrictions lifted, it’s important to remember that the country is still dealing the pandemic. Certain measures at the centre will continue to be in effect, including face masks and social ditancing.
“We want to thank everyone who visited the centre for their patience, understanding, and for following all our advice and guidance.”
Retailers will operate their stores according to company policies. Stores will also have socially distant queuing systems that customers should be aware of.
Some stores may also offer one-way entry or exit systems.
