Peacemaker season 2 was inevitable from the time it began making records in terms of viewing on the streaming house, HBO Max. The show saw its viewership increase week by week because of the combo with John Cena, James Gunn and an CGI Eagle known as Eagly.
As per Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content at HBO Max: “The brilliance of James Gunn once again shines with Peacemaker. He took the character, portrayed by the legendary John Cena, and created an amazing series that’s exciting, funny and touching, showcasing the humanity that lies beneath this group of misfits in a hyper-human universe.
“As one of the very first DC show to receive its premiere in the form of a series premiere on HBO Max, we are happy that viewers have agreed for peace to be given a chance.”
John Cena was also overwhelmed by the success of the show “I am truly grateful to be humbled and awed by the reaction towards Peacemaker and by the experience of playing the role of Peacemaker.”
Deadline confirmed the follow-up season will begin in February 2022. James Gunn releasing a statement to announce the news.
“Creating Peacemaker has been one of the most memorable highlights of my life, professionally as well as together with John Cena and the incredible creative team that surrounds me, and our collaborators in HBO Max . Being able to see something that we enjoy so much be appreciated by the public at large was a fantastic experience. I am excited to discover the next chapter of Team Peacemaker goes in season two.”

Eliminating a film that’s nearly finished and has a loyal fan base seems like a craze. This is why it’s so unlikely to be repeated, wouldn’t it?

“That’s very advanced. I hope that in a few years people will have more knowledge about this. The technology isn’t 100%. We’ve been working hard on it. It’s something that could happen alongside Peacemaker Season 2.”
Peacemaker season 2 cast: Who’s on the show?
It’s true that the title actor John Cena wasn’t always signed for a sequel.
“John and I didn’t have a second season in mind from the beginning since we wanted to be sure that it was something we truly enjoy doing and that we truly wanted to do,” James Gunn said (via Variety). “That’s the reason why we’re announcing it today, as we needed to sort to figure everything out. I wasn’t in agreement with an additional season right from the beginning it was not something like”okay, we’re picked up. It was a matter of wanted to confirm that it was something that I was looking forward to doing.”
It’s a good thing to know that John and James have found a way to participate in the follow-up since it wouldn’t be possible without them.
In terms of the other cast members, Freddie Stroma will almost definitely return as Vigilante as well as key actor Danielle Brooks, Steve Agee and Jennifer Holland. There’s a good chance Robert Patrick will return too (yes we know Robert Patrick is gone, but he still irritated Christopher Smith from beyond the grave in episode 8, and we’d like to see that be the case in the second season: James Gunn loves messed-up father-son relationships).
