Nicole Sakura : Superstore viewers have faced an unintended double blow in recent times, as they not only saw the beloved NBC sitcom be cut short in March, after six seasons, but the spin-off that was planned was also canceled.
Luckily the actress Nichole Sakura who was Cheyenne Thompson in Superstore has already secured another project lined up following her role in the Bo & Cheyenne spin-off, in which she would have been a part of and was canceled.
Deadline informs us that Sakura is joining the cast of the new ABC comedy show Maggie. This show is about a young girl who is named Maggie (played by Rebecca Rittenhouse from The Mindy Project’s Rebecca Rittenhouse) who is doing to make sense of the challenges of life and come to terms of her abilities to read minds. She may be able predict the future of other people however her personal life is anything but chaos.
Sakura is said to play Louise Maggie, who has been Maggie’s best friend. Deadline describes Louise as “funny, single and ready to mingle, all the time”.
“But make no mistake, Louise gets knocked down repeatedly and somehow she will always get right back up with an even better attitude, full of hope and belief that her life is going to somehow work out,” the synopsis for the character goes on.
Maggie will also be starring in Grey Anatomy’s Ray Ford, Westworld actor Leonardo Nam, Life in Pieces actress Angelique Cabral, The Carrie Diaries star Chloe Bridges, Reno 911’s Kerri Kenney, Pitch Perfect star David Del Rio and There’s Something About Mary actor Chris Elliott.
Maggie was created by Life in Pieces and Family Guy creator Maggie Mull alongside Life in Pieces creator Justin Adler, while Natalia Anderson director of episodes on black-ish as well as grown-ish, is selected to be the director of the pilot.
The news of the sad fact the Superstore’s spinoff was cancelled was announced in the last month, when the scriptwriter Bridget Kyle announced that the scripted series was being removed.
“Unfortunately, yesterday NBC notified us that they’re not going forward with the Superstore spinoff,” she declared. “So, it will just have to live on in our hearts and on my hard drive.”
The show could be centered around the Superstore’s Cheyenne along with her husband Bilbo “Bo” Derek Thompson and their life with their child, Harmonica.
