The star on TV’s Coronation Street and Shameless, Maggie Fox, has died following an “sudden accident”. The family of the actress is believed to be “heartbroken” following her death.
The deceased woman was reportedly with her loved ones. The specifics of the incident are not yet known. Maggie was previously a part of two roles on The long-running ITV soap, especially playing Ruth Audsley in 2001.
Other roles she has played includes Reckless as well as The Forsyte Saga. Sue Ryding, her comedy companion of 40 years and co-artistic Director at the LipService Theatre, announced the tragic announcement on Twitter and expressed her sadness on Twitter heartbroken over losing her best friend, M.E.N reports.
Sue stated: “It is with great sadness that I have to announce the death of Maggie Fox, my comedy partner of 40 years and co-Artistic Director of LipService. Maggie passed away yesterday with her family around her. Consequently the Spring Tour of Chateau Ghoul has been cancelled. As you can imagine I am completely heartbroken.”
In a tribute to her comic genius’ pal She added: “I met Maggie when we were students in drama in Bristol University in the 1970s. We were both in an extremely strict production of Ibsen’s The Lady From the Sea but , for some reason, the audience was laughing.
“A Tragic event” that was a tragedy for Ibsen (he was great in those) but the start of a huge comedy collaboration. The company that we run, LipService, is a theatre. LipService was founded in 1985. We have created 22 original comedies that are performing all over the world and even having children amongst it all!
“It’s notoriously difficult to present new work in theatre and we are really proud that we managed to do so and to build an audience for it.” Sue states that a brand updated digital edition of the live performance Chateau Ghoul, which had already been recorded and will be released later in the year to honor the memory of Maggie. We’re all still in shock because this happened very abrupt following an accident,” she added.
“We had planned to create a modern digital edition of Chateau Ghoul, which we already filmed and which will be released to us later this year to honor Maggie and a few live events utilizing the vast number of video footage that we are grateful to have archived. More details to be announced once we’ve got an idea.
“Thank you for supporting us over all these years, we are so lucky to have such a loyal audience. We do hope you will join us to celebrate her comedy genius later in the year.”
The Lowry Theatre stated: “Everyone at The Lowry sends love and best wishes to Lip Service following the death of Maggie Fox. Regular visitors to The Lowry and hugely popular with our audiences. Maggie will be sorely missed.”
Maggie Fox appeared on Coronation Street in four roles: as an assistant nurse in the year the year 1990. She also played Charmian Grey, in the year 1992 and Ruth Audsley in 2001 and Judge Travers in September 2010.
The character Ruth was involved in the case when Roy as well as Hayley Cropper as who were played by David Neilson and Julie Hesmondhalgh was to the streets with their adopted kid Wayne Hayes. Later, she appeared as Judge Travers in the case between the warring sisters Kylie Turner who was who was played by Paula Lane, and Becky McDonald who was as played by Katherine Kelly, as they battled for custody over Kylie’s child Max.
She also was a the role of maid Bilson on the ITV historical series The Forsyte Saga. Also, she was an registrar on The Channel Four drama Shameless.
