First Dates barman Merlin Griffiths has been a fan-favorite in Channel 4’s Channel 4 series from the very beginning of the series.
The 47-year-old has spent time hospitalized and out in the past year, with the maitre de Fred Sirieix sharing his love and assistance to his co-star this month.
“I really love him,” Fred said to The Daily Mail, adding: “He’s extremely positive and practical and also. I’m not really surprised, because of the kind of person he is.
“You can always rely on Merlin.”
He added that he is contact with him on his phone and via texts, “making sure he’s OK”.
Merlin himself has shared updates with his the fans, although some of the updates are positive.
What is the condition that Merlin Griffiths been diagnosed with?
In September of last year, Merlin was diagnosed with the stage 3 bowel cancer. He was undergoing surgeries since.
The surgery was performed in April. He was a star praising his NHS after helping save his life.
The operation might have been successful however, the fight with health was still far from being finished.
Due to health issues caused by complications, he’s needed to go to the hospital in recent weeks However, he has kept his fans informed at throughout the process.
What’s going on with Merlin Griffiths?
On June 20, 2022 Merlin had to be taken to the hospital in order to deal with the complications caused by the cancer of the bowel.
In his post on Instagram to share his story, the barman wrote that his trip “long, and often painful and ugly”.
Merlin said: “Last time for a while I am hoping. A minor day operation to treat complications from my anastomosis that occurred following the Low Anterior Resection I had in April.
“The #CancerTreatment journey is long, and often painful and ugly. I couldn’t do it without my family either. #BowelCancerAwareness #getchecked.”
Since then, he’s shared photos of himself in the sun’s rays, and fans still sending their support for the country’s most loved barman.
