Antiques Road Trip’s Natasha Raskin Sharp lifted the top of the lid about how she nearly ended up losing her part as a character on this BBC show.
Natasha Raskin Sharp has been frequent guest for The BBC’s daytime program, Antiques Road Trip since the show’s debut in 2015. The presenter outlined the shocking ways she nearly lost her job as an expert in antiques.
Antiques Road Trip has remained an enormous hit for BBC since its debut in 2013 along with its popular celebrity spin-off, Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.
Each episode is a story of two experts who compete to buy collectibles and antiques on the budget of PS200.
The items are then auctioned to auction, and the winner is the one who made the highest profits.
The spin-off, however, features regular characters who try to find items that will bring in the most funds for the charity they choose.
Despite being a popular host, Natasha Raskin Sharp shared her experience of losing her job.
In 2015, just prior to debuting she revealed to The Sunday Post how she failed to disclose crucial information to producers that could have resulted in her losing her job.
The then-28-year-old said: “I’d been doing Bargain Hunt when the executive producer of Antiques Road Trip called to inquire if I would like to audition for the show.”
“It was a tense experience. I had to endure several auditions before I finally got to be invited for an important meeting, and an audience of people including the director were watching me in the eye and asking”Is she going to be okay?
Natasha said: “The thing was I had something very important that I had to release I couldn’t drive!”
Then, she admitted her mistake and revealed that her bosses were clearly upset since being capable of driving was a prerequisite for the job.
This was due to the fact that the two experts who were competing against one another would have to travel across Britain in search of the treasures.
Then, in a candid account of their reaction, Natasha disclosed: “They could not believe it. All was sweetness and light until this point, but after that everything turned serious.”
For the presenter, it was a blessing that she was still given the show with one condition: she needed to successfully pass the test prior to production began for the new episodes.
Natasha managed to pass the test after completing an intensive driving class. Despite having had failed two times, she succeeded after her third attempt.
In her time in the program, she’s been all over Britain to find antiques and to win the competition.
Viewers have seen her travels through Liverpool, Anglesey, Somerset and Scotland.
