The large-sized blankets that can be worn have been gaining popularity in recent months – and with Australian Oodie brand ,Oodie is the one most well-known for those who want to feel warm and cozy in the winter months.
As the colder weather begins to affect many areas in Scotland as well as the UK, we’ll all be contemplating turning on the heater to stay a little more warm during winter.
But considering the current price of living pushing energy costs to increase, that might seem like a no-go for a lot of households searching for other options to stay warm but not add up the costs.
While the best-branded items cost about PS80-PS100 per item however, there are a few “dupes” available at the department stores that you can test such as Primark’s ‘Snuddie and has earned rave reviews from bargain-hunters.
To see whether the fashion chain’s bargain wearable blanket was as great as Oodie’s bestselling version, Zahna Eklund from The Mirror put both on the test to determine the best suitable winter blanket. Here’s how she got on.
Zahna admits that she bought her own Oodie after having seen advertisements for them on social media sites, since she was aware that she’d need an alternative for keeping warm in the midst of a cost of living in a crisis. The reporter also mentioned that the blanket that she was comfortable was available for purchase as a Buy-One-Get-One-Free promotion that was available at the time, so her mom and she were able to purchase two of them for about PS90 which is PS45 each.
Unfortunately, the buy one receive one-free offer has expired but the offer Zahnha offers is still for sale, and costs PS54 which is a fraction of what they typically are priced in the range of PS89 to PS99.
Tested out her Oodie in October at a time that was just a slightly warmer, the writer noticed that the blanket made the wearer “sweltering” and was genuinely concerned the double-lined furry hoodie going to get too warm.
Zahna stated: “But, as the temperatures dropped to mark the beginning of November and they decreased through the month until cold of December took over the idea of curling up in the essentially comfortable duvet was pure happiness.
“If you’re looking to do anything else than sit and watch television in your Oodie however, you’re likely be in trouble. The Oodie is universally-fitting and therefore, it’s huge, which means you’ll have a lot of material to move around. My work is from my home, and it’s nearly impossible for me to stand at my computer and type with the bulky sleeves on the Oodie always getting into obstruction.”
The price is only PS16 Primark’s Snuddie is the cheapest option for those who are looking for an affordable Oodie “dupe” that doesn’t make you broke. Zahna claims that Primark’s wearable blanket that is less than 1/3 of the price of the Oodie at PS54 however, it comes with a slight decrease in terms of quality and also in cost.
Although the Oodie has a double lining for additional warmth Primark’s Snuddie has only one layer of soft material, and the double lining only found inside the hood.
Because of its one layer, the journalist found that this blanket is less cozy than the brand name premium one but it was able to do stand up in colder weather.
Another significant difference was the size, since Primark’s version does away with the “one one size is all you need’ model that resulted in Zahna being required to purchase the M/L size.
