A defendant in the trial of eight persons, which includes the social media influencer Mahek Bukhari admitted to having was responsible to the tragic crash. Raees Jamal admitted that the influential Mahek had informed him that Saqib Hussain, who was 21, had naked photos of herself on her mobile, and so she was chased by the Skoda Saqib and his companion Mohammed Hashim Ijazuddin were travelling into, and both fledgling men were killed in an accident on the A46 in Six Hills on February 11.
According to Leicestershire Live, Jamal took responsibility for driving at a high speed and attempting to get through the Skoda however, he claimed that the next thing that happened is something of an “accident”. The jury in Leicester Crown Court has previously been told that the defendants met Saqib who was chauffeured by his friend Mohammed Hashim Ijazuddin – because of a blackmail scheme.
Mahek’s mom, Ansreen 47, had been involved in a sexual affair in a relationship with Saqib but Jamal claimed he was unaware of the affair until he was detained in the midst of hearing. In the aftermath of the incident and the crash, he was questioned by his barrister Leonard Smith KC, if you felt accountable for the two men’s deaths.
He added: “I feel that if I wasn’t going so fast and he hadn’t driven so fast it wouldn’t have resulted in a tragic accident. I was trying stop Saqib and get in front of him so I could retrieve content off the phone.”
He claimed that his Seat Leon he was driving did strike the Skoda once , but it was prior to the fatal crash. He said the Skoda attempted to block him out. The witness claimed: “He was constantly trying to keep me out of the way as we crossed the A46.
“I tried overtaking him one other time and he tried blocking me off. When he tried blocking me off the cars have come into contact then. The Skoda came into contact with me.”
He said the crash occurred close to his Shell service along the A46 and was a “light” contact. The crash, he said, was the result of the driver of the Skoda Hashim losing control. However, the driver blamed himself for trying to take the car over.
He stated: “When I tried overtaking the Skoda tried to block me off, causing me to break, and he ended up getting into Central Reservation.
Mr. Smith demanded: “When the Skoda came off the road had you made contact at all?” He answered: “No.”
Then, he was later asked “Did you see the Skoda come off the road?” He replied: “Yes I did. It was dark at night. All I could see was the Skoda going into the bushes.”
However, he saw the car afterward as the defendants headed for Leicester and he claimed that he knew the passengers were dead. He added: “The car was in flames. I was traumatised. I knew they were dead on the spot.”
His lawyer inquired whether he’d decided not to dial 999 as it was a fear of getting blamed in the accident. He responded: “Yes I was. I was trying to cover my tracks.”
He added later: “I didn’t want to take the rap for it. I was scared. I thought my driving at the time caused it. If I hadn’t been speeding what happened wouldn’t have happened.”
He mentioned that he was thinking about 2 young people who had passed away along with their loved ones. He added: “I knew that they were dead and I didn’t know how to feel about it. I had a feeling in my stomach.”
Mr. Smith was asked “When did you first hear about something to do with the Bukhari ladies that led to this incident?” He responded: “The affair? I was only aware of it when I was in jail.”
He claimed that that night prior to setting off to Tesco, Mahek told him she was blackmailed and did not talk about her mother. He was then asked: “And before you went to Tesco you didn’t know about any of this?” He denied it.
He stated: “She informed me about the blackmail. Mahek informed me Saqib Hussain was blackmailing him and was threatening her over nude photos and videos.
