Dates and Timings of Christmas Market
The annual York Christmas Markets make a welcome return in 2022 and are the perfect way to get yourself in the spirit for the upcoming season.
Opening on the 18th November and running through until 23rd December, York Christmas Markets are spread out over Parliament Street, Kings Square and St. Sampson’s Square. Here you will find a number of winter chalets selling everything from stocking fillers to exquisite regional cuisine, as well as fun fairground attractions for families.
York Christmas Markets 2022 will be running from 10am to 6pm on Sunday to Thursday, with extended opening hours from 10am to 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Starting on Parliament Street, you can browse through collections from local traders who sell seasonal decorations and little trinkets that you won’t find elsewhere.
Food Places In York Christmas Market
Once you have filled your shopping bags with Christmas presents, you can then fill your stomachs by paying a visit to the Shambles Food Court in St. Sampson’s Square. Here you will find vendors selling Mulled Wine and other seasonal cuisine alongside more international flavours including Mexican burritos and German sausages.
However, if you fancy something a little more regional you could always make the short walk to the famous Betty’s tea rooms which has been a haunt for locals for over 100 years. Holidays in Yorkshire really wouldn’t be complete if you didn’t at least once try their famous hot beverages and beautiful bakery products!
You can then head on over to Kings Square and get back into the Christmas spirit with a wide range of traditional fairground rides including a carousel and helter skelter which are sure to keep the children entertained.
Create further magical memories for your offspring by heading over to Stockeld Park where you will find their Christmas Adventure. Here children will get the opportunity to meet Santa and play in the stunning enchanted forest. Adults are also in for a treat, with an ice rink and Nordic skiing both being promised to make a reappearance in 2021. All of this is made even more magical by the seasonal illuminations with light up the forest and really are a sight to behold.
