Ryan Garcia vs. Javier Fortuna : Whatever the opponent or the things he does both in and outside the ring, Ryan Garcia cannot escape questions regarding Gervonta Davis. The 23-year old lightweight and social media star has been connected to Davis as who is the WBA (Regular) weightlifting champion for a while in the past. Since they are nearly identical in terms of skill and fame it’s like it’s a matter of whenrather than if they meet.
Is there going to be a battle? Or will the shots that are thrown originate from their mouths and on social media? And if they get into a fight and it is too for them to be fighting?
In the past there were four kings of boxing: Sugar Ray Leonard, Mavin Hagler, Roberto Duran, and Thomas Hearns.
The four fighters were the dominant fighters in the 1970s and 1980s, ranging from middleweight to welterweight. The thing that fans loved about the four men was the fact that they faced off against each other in fights that produced. Some of the most memorable moments, such as Duran declaring “no no” in the face of Leonard and the opening round of Hagler Hearns, consolidated the already rich legacy of the quartet.
The lightweight division of boxing recently was dominated by Garcia, Davis, Devin Haney as well as Teofimo Lopez (with Vasiliy Lomachenko included) identified as the four new King of the Ring. Instead of fighting each other but, they’ve instead hit their opponents in the face and exchanged barbs via social media and press conference.
Garcia Davis and Davis have been doing this for longest. Garcia defeated Javier Fortuna on the 16th of July from the Crypto.com Arena, in Los Angeles. Although he wasn’t watching his opponent’s back before his fight Garcia was ready to fight “Tank.”
“I believe it’s pretty obvious the direction we’re heading after we’ve passed Fortuna,” said Garcia, via Boxing Scene. “I am going to get involved in an opportunity to fight Gervonta Davis… It’s not that I’m adamant about fighting with him,” said Garcia of Davis. “I’m eager to prove to my fans that I’m truly the most effective fighter of the division. I think he’s by far the top fighter, aside from me in the division. because of his speed, strength, intelligence I believe he’s right at the top of the list. But I’m more superior and I’m planning to differentiate myself from him. I’m going to look like a breeze when I’m fighting with him. I’m keen to show everyone that I’m much more than what meets the eye, that I’m actually more skilled than what you think or when in the same ring as me, you’ll be able to feel it immediately. That’s why I want to prove to Gervonta Davis personally, too.”
Garcia has experienced a fascinating growth process in comparison to other athletes in the division he is fighting. Awarded the Golden Boy belt by Golden Boy, Garcia is famous for his knockout power. In 2021, he beat Luke Campbell for the interim WBC lightweight title, which was his most significant fight to date. In the last couple of years, Garcia has dealt with issues with the mental state of his body, hand injury, and has moved away to Canelo Alves and Eddy Reynoso. He was back in April and defeated Emmanuel Tahoe via unanimous decision.
Garcia continues to improve as an athlete. Similar can be said for Davis. He has defeated all of his opponents easily during his 27-fight career. In the process, Davis has taken gold in the super-featherweight and lightweight as well as super-lightweight categories. In partnership with Floyd Mayweather, Davis has beat the likes Leo Santa Cruz, Mario Barrios, Isaac Cruz, and Rolando Romero. With his release from Mayweather, Davis is looking to make a splash in boxing.
Both have an enormous following on social media. Davis has more than 405.7k fans of Twitter and 506k in the Facebook platform, along with 3.4 million Instagram followers. Instagram.
