Road closures in Glasgow : The preparations are well underway at Glasgow in the city as it is preparing to welcome world leaders to the COP26 climate summit.
US president Joe Biden, the Queen and Barack Obama are just some of the people expected to attend the event, that will be held between October 31 and November 12.
Nicola Sturgeon has already declared that COP26 could be final chance to address climate change.
While the effects of this conference is felt all over the world, Glaswegians are also expected to feel the impact on their daily lives following the conference.
One of the most significant problems that will affect Scots in this region is the amount of road closures scheduled to take the area.
Many footpaths and cycle routes will be closed off to those in Glasgow during the festival.
The residents of areas like the Anderston, Finnieston and Yorkhill areas of the city are likely to be the most affected.
It’s already becoming evident, with a few road closures already in effect prior to the conference kicks into action on Sunday.
In relation to the road closures Glasgow City Council has stated in a statement that “COP26 will be unique to the other large events Glasgow has held.
“It will bring a new challenge for our travel system. It is a huge event and complex.
“It includes approximately 140 global leaders,” a little over 250,000 delegates, and climate activists too.
