Princess and the Frog 2 : The fans from the Princess of the Frog are celebrating following the announcement that Disney+ announced a spin-off on television named Tiana.
The announcement of the long-form musical was revealed at Disney+ Day on November 12 and was announced alongside the first glimpse of concept artwork to Tiana.
According to a synopsis posted by the streaming service The series follows the newly-crowned Princess Maldonia on the road to a “new adventure”, adding however that her “New Orleans past isn’t far behind”.
The show, which was produced and written by the director Stella Meghie ( The Photograph) The series will be the first time that Tiana is back on the screen after Disney brought the very first princess of African descent in the franchise back in 2009.

“When Princess and the Frogcame out, that was the first Black princess, the first Disney icon that I could relate to visually and experience-wise. It was huge. I love jazz. Everything about it was inspiring to me,” she added.
The possibility of bringing back the character came to fruition the idea, she explained that Disney thought about having an event “with a particular princess”. On a call to the studio, she inquired “which one? “, Disney stated “Tiana”, to which Meghie was delighted.
When asked about the pressure that is placed on her to respect the Black community the writer-director explained: “It’s a tremendous amount of weight because it means so much.”
She also said: “You have to get it right. The Black community can be very scrutinising.”
The actress revealed details about her next chapter, she revealed the story will be a “grand adventure,” adding “when we meet her she’s the newly crowned the Princess of Maldonia.
“We get to see her explore that world but New Orleans is calling her back,” she said.
