Peaky Blinders finn actor Harry Kirton describes Shelby’s story being “rough”.
The eldest of the formidable Shelby family, Finn spent the majority of the final season in the sand due to his strained relationship with his brothers Tommy and Arthur and was exiled from his family.
“Can I be sure?” He asked. “F**king hell!” he said. I read it and thought”OK… What should you do now with all this information What do I do with this information?
“So yes it was rough but it was also very interesting since for a long time I haven’t had any immediate contact with Steven (Knight, the creator) but every time I meet him , we’ve been having good conversations.
“Obviously that’s the case with Finn being the youngest brother, and clearly the death of Helen McCrory and also the way that all of the characters’ stories have taken place, it give you a good foundation for the future generation.”
In terms of where he envisions the future Finn, Kirton went on to say: “We’re kind of heading towards the Second World War now in this story, so could Finn end up being an army soldier? Can we just skip it?
“There’s plenty of possibilities to explore. I would definitely like to go back to it, but not right now. I believe it’s too late.”
This is in line with Knight’s recent insight, which was revealed by DSat at the same event that the forthcoming Peaky movie spin-off will take us back into World War II.
He had previously told his story in the Radio Times: “I’ve been thinking about this for a while as a tale involving Peakys.” Peakys throughout the Second World War and I’ve come across three stories that I’m going to integrate in the movie. True, kind of hidden and untold stories of during the Second World War, and I’ve also incorporated the Peakys in it.
“I’m always fascinated because when it came to the Second World War, there was so much happening and lots of destruction and death which meant that a lot of things were happening that didn’t get recorded in the historical books. Therefore, it’s the things that I’m interested in,” he shared.
