The grieving mother of a man incorrectly identified as suspect in the brutal murder of a schoolgirl Jodi Jones has lashed out at filmmakers of documentaries.
Norma was shocked to learn that her son’s passing Mark Kane had been discussed and featured in the Channel 5 show Murder in a Small Town earlier in the year.
Norma was shocked to discover her son’s death Mark Kane had been discussed and featured on Channel 5’s Murder in a Small Town in the course of this year.
The two-part documentary attempted to discredit the conviction of murderer Luke Mitchell despite him being found guilty by a jury for killing Jodi his 14-year-old girl friend in 2003.
Two private investigators created an inventory of people they believed could be part of the scheme, including Mark who passed away suddenly in May 2018at the age of 38.
Although she has contacted Channel 5 four times to request clarification, Norma claims she has not received any acknowledgment or apology.
The station has also refused to speak with the Record. Record.
The 71-year-old, suffering from cancer, told the media: “I just want justice for my son. The way they addressed the man in the documentary made it seem as if Jodi was actually killed Jodi.
“I saw the police in my home at the time , and they informed me they’d checked Mark’s fingerprints and DNA, so they could tell the suspect didn’t have a motive.
“The policewoman informed me not to be worried because they were sure it was not Mark and they had the right person on the case.
“But due to allegations made by a purported Mark’s friend They had to conduct an investigation.”
A court previously heard about how “pal” Scott Forbes claimed to have evidence that could prove Mitchell but that he was looking to market his story for a price of PS50,000.
He also implicated Mark an ex-drug addict who was near the scene when Jodi was found dead in the woods close to her house located in Dalkeith, Midlothian.
He advised Kane to agree to his story , and he’d take the money with him. However, mom Norma explained how her son was adamantly refusing to be held accountable for something he didn’t do.
She stated: “Scott told Mark he would offer him a PS25,000 reward if he followed in his own story.
“When I sought out Mark what he’d stated, he said that he’d politely advised him to go where he was going because he was unwilling to admit that the man didn’t have done.
“I was shocked when I saw how Mark was depicted in the documentary.
“They have completely blackened his name, and he’s not ever there for defense.
“OK I’ll admit it, he was a narco addict many years ago, but he had turned his lives around. He quit the drug entirely and in the process was admitted to a college.
“He later went on to pursue studies for a degree at Stirling University. However, in the documentary they revealed that he worked in a field consuming drugs, and all of it.
“No kid is ever perfect, but my son shouldn’t be punished for the things has been done to them.”
Norma from Edinburgh and is from Edinburgh, shared the story of her child that she could have been celebrating his birthday earlier in the month, and that only added to her displeasure over the show.
She added: “Mark passed away three years ago, on the 16th day of the month last. He was just turning 40. That’s probably why it’s getting to the point of a cliff for me.
“His causes of his death is not yet known. The body was found on his couch. The autopsy could not determine the cause of death – the fact that he fell asleep and did not wake up.
“I am not sure if I’ve found closure. Channel 5 even got that incorrect in the documentary – they claimed his death was last year.
