Moussa Niakhate , an injured defender, is still being considered for his Nottingham Forest return.
Since August’s 1-0 win over West Ham United, the summer signing has been sidelined with a hamstring injury. He was able to link up with the Senegal team during the international break, and was then named on the bench against Bolivia. However, he returned to the City Ground to continue his rehabilitation.
Steve Cooper, the head coach, said that the centre-back was still a long way from getting on the pitch. It remains to be seen if he is fit enough to compete in the World Cup next month with his country.
“No, he’s not near. He is still in rehab. Cooper stated that he is not even close to being considered for consideration.
Reds boss said that Niakhate could be playing in the tournament in Qatar. He added, “I’m not sure at this moment. I am just thinking about him, Nottingham Forest.” However, that possibility is not in our immediate consideration. He is fully with the medical team, and is going through this process with them.”
Forest are without Omar Richards as they continue to recover from a hairline fracture in their leg. Midfielder Jack Colback is still struggling with a back problem.
Cooper described Colback as “a bit in and out” before Saturday’s visit to Wolverhampton Wanderers. He is having trouble with his back. He is having a hard time getting up and moving to the place he wants.
We have to be cautious with his management program at the moment. This is why he hasn’t been involved in recent months, and that is still going on.”
