“I thought I was going to have the summer that everyone dreams of but now I’m living with no regrets, I took a chance but I realised I can’t live on TV. I was expected to do things for a TV show and I couldn’t be myself. I didn’t want to do it. It is a TV show and it is produced. It’s not all natural,” Liam said to the MailOnline.
Liam added: “In my head I was not in a situation to be a part of television shows since that’s the way you’re working. You’re required to meet people as well as take on challenges and you’re not in charge of any of this.
Liam’s departure would be one of the two Islanders who decided to quit the show on their own choice this season. Jacques O’Neill left Love Island after returning after his stay at Casa Amor. After leaving the show, Jacques has spoken out about the impact it had on his mental wellbeing.
“I had loads of meetings with the execs, the series editor, and professional physiologists but after a couple of days of feeling the way I did, I made the decision on my own behalf that it wasn’t right for me to carry on.”
In the course of the show, Liam was partnered up with Gemma Owen, who is currently in the villa was also paired together with Luca Bish. For Liam, the Welsh Islander, his feelings toward Gemma were not reciprocated.
When he quit the show, Liam summoned his fellow contestants to the fire pit. Liam stated: “Obviously we all came to the same type of motive, but I’ve not been 100 percent Liam. I know who 100 percent Liam is, and I’m miles away from this.
“Trying to find someone you leave the villa with that you love, that’s the goal. But when you’re not feeling that, it makes it a very hard sort of time to find that. I’ve been thinking long and hard, it isn’t spur of the moment, so I’ve made a decision I’m going to leave the villa.”
