Jota is expected to be one of Portugal’s most important men and rocket to Europe’s top football by the man who lit the fuse.
Joao Tralhao, Benfica’s youth chief, has guided some of the continent’s top players, such as Bernardo Silva, Joao Felix and others, through the Eagles’ ranks. He is certain that the Celtic winger is up there. Jota was able to get into the Benfica first team and then went on loan at Real Valladolid. However, his former coach believes that moving to Scotland has elevated his career.
He had a great first season, helping Ange Postecoglou to win a double. Celtic paid PS6million to sign him permanently. Posteglou has been a key player with 13 goals, 14 assists and seven goals this season. He also had six assists and seven goals last term. Tralhao is delighted at the way he has performed for Celtic. He believes he will continue to improve and that it is only a matter time before one Europe’s most important clubs calls for the Portuguese playmaker.
According to the coach, Jota is among the most talented people he has coached. He is so talented, and I have no doubts that he will continue to be a success.
He played for Benfica’s first team, but it was felt that he would not get enough time. So, he decided to move abroad. He is thrilled to move to Celtic, as they are a large club in Europe.
“Jota is doing a great job there and helping Celtic reach a higher level. Jota is improving at Celtic. I can see him playing for the most prestigious clubs in the world. He has the talent to become an amazing player.
Former Monaco assistant manager, where he served as No.2 to Thierry, said that he smiled a lot when Jota scored his Champions League free kick against Real Madrid.
Tralhao stated that Jota was one my main proteges. I spent almost 19 years working with Benfica’s youth.
“I was happy to see Jota play against Real. It is so satisfying to see these boys succeed at the highest level. My work can help them on their way, which makes me really, really happy.
“Jota is a star player and a great person. He is full of character, but humble and a true family man. It’s great to see Jota succeed. He will be a key player for the Portuguese team in the coming year.
