Four more locations could be added to green list as well as the green watchlist will be updated next week, but the Baleric Islands of Spain will be placed back to the red list.
The minister for transport Grant Shapps announced the changes to the UK’s traffic lights scheme for travel internationally on Twitter today afternoon.
The government’s red, amber, and green lists for travel define the conditions for testing for coronavirus and isolation for travellers returning back to UK.
There’s no need for anyone who are returning from a green list or green watchlist country to be isolated upon their return home. From July 19th the double-jabbed Brits returning from a country on the amber list are able to be able to avoid isolation as well.
The minister for transport announced that Bulgaria as well as Hong Kong would be added to the green list starting at 4:00 am on the 19th of July (July 19) and Croatia and Taiwan will be added on the watchlist, which includes countries that are at the risk of becoming amber.
The Balearic Islands, which includes Ibiza, Majorca and Menorca are set to be placed on the list of amber destinations following the addition of the islands to the watchlist of green countries during the time of the last review, in June.
The British Virgin Islands will also change from the green watchlist to the amber list on Monday.
Mr. Shapps posted on Twitter: “From 4.00am Monday 19th July, Bulgaria and Hong Kong will be added to the green list, and Croatia and Taiwan are on the green watchlist of destinations..
“Please make sure you are aware of the most current travel information prior to traveling as some countries and territories might require additional requirements prior to your arrive.
