After being rumored to be moving towards the exits earlier in the week, chief executive Dane Murphy has decided to remain at Nottingham Forest.
Evangelos Marinakis, the owner of the City Ground, was believed to be contemplating making major changes amid a poor run for the Reds. Murphy, George Syrianos, head of analytic recruitment and data analysis, and Andy Scott head of scouting were all at risk.
The Telegraph reports that Murphy will remain as CEO after talks. This comes as Steve Cooper, boss, has signed a new agreement and Filippo Giraldi was appointed sporting director.
This former Watford employee spent nine years in the role. He is believed to be responsible for the audit of the sporting business and the evaluation of the infrastructure at City Ground. It will not be invasive.
Cooper signed a new contract for 2025, with less than 12 months left on his deal when he took over from Chris Hughton. Cooper was under pressure after five consecutive defeats in Premier League. However, the club showed great faith and signed a new contract.
Forest released a statement announcing the news: “It’s now important that we focus solely on football. We are all focused as a team and will do our best to help the team climb up the league table. This will allow us to once again show the qualities that brought us to the Premier League.
