Charlotte Hawkins attending the People’s Pet Awards on Thursday evening paid a touching tribute to Queen Elizabeth The Great in the wake of her death.
Celebrities were in full force on the Mirror People’s Pet Awards on Thursday night, but the typically upbeat celebration was full of emotional tributes to Her Majesty The Queen, following the tragic announcement of her passing.
In the lead with her sincere thanks on the red carpet the Good Morning Britain’s Charlotte Hawkins, who stated: “I feel really emotional I’m really hurt. We knew due to her age and her health and mobility issues that this was going to happen, but it’s really been an emotional shock. It’s like a real-life nightmare.
“It’s the end of an era. She devoted her whole life to this country and she’s always been there for everybody. She’s been a part of our lives for so long it’s really hard to imagine life without her, our country, without her”
The actress spoke about a time she was able to meet the monarch when she was 11 years old, Charlotte said: “I was picked to give her a bouquet flowers as she entered Chichester Cathedral for the Maundy Thursday service. For me it was a great honor. I was a bit anxious as a kid thinking, ‘I’m about to meet Queen Elizabeth’ but she was so sweet and put me at ease. She also did that with every person she had the pleasure of meeting.
“She’s going to be so missed by everybody. I think it’s one of those moments where shockwaves are going to reverberate around the country, around the Commonwealth and around the world. It’s going to be very different without her and it’s such a huge, sad loss. And so much love to the family, it’s a difficult situation for them because it’s someone we all know but at the same time they’re a family grieving a grandmother, a mother at the same time.”
Otherwhere On the other hand, the actress Jodie Prenger stated: “We’ve both had the satisfaction of being in performance and presence in the presence of the Queen. She was the force that taught us girls how to perform and she’ll be remembered for ever.”
Natalie Anderson added her heartache Natalie Anderson expressed her sorrow, saying: “I’m absolutely heartbroken. I’m a huge fan of royals and she’s the most powerful female role model for me personally, and I’m sure that anyone who know me will be aware of that. I’m completely heartbroken if I’m being honest with you.
“It’s a very difficult evening but what I love about this evening is that she is the patron of Dogs Trust, which has what made it really poignant to stay and support and be here because it’s what she would want. She’s such a tour de force , especially when it comes to animals and how much she loves animals. We’re here this evening and the National Anthem was going… Oh no I’m gonna go.. and the dogs were barking and, like, that’s what you would imagine she would want. It was lovely. It was really moving.”
The tributes kept coming in, Natasha Baker OBE, stated: “The Queen was just such an amazing inspiration. I was very fortunate to meet her on several occasions – she awarded me my MBE a few years ago back in 2013. She was just an incredible force of a woman and she dedicated to so much not just to pets but our whole country and she’ll be really sadly missed.”
And Patsy Kensit has said that she doesn’t believe there’ll never be another monarch as great as Her Majesty “amazing woman” Her Majesty She said “the country will come together and mourn together”.
In his first interview of the Queen’s reign when he was 11years old, John Craven discussed being fortunate to have the opportunity to meet her, noting that “she’s exactly what everybody thinks she is”. He said she was an “wonderful, warm person and she was the nation”.
Saffron Barker spoke of her devastation and heartache by saying: “She’s always put her country first. She didn’t even wish to be a Queen, and always put her family above herself, and it’s evident. To be honest , I do not think we could have an even better Queen as Her. She is my favorite. I have a deep love for the Royal Family. I’ve never had the opportunity to meet them.
“But, today is a very weird and emotional day. Obviously I am just gutted like everyone else. It doesn’t quite feel real right now, I think.”
Danny Hatchers wished him a happy birthday and then said: “It’s going to take a few days to process – even my grandparents are trying to still figure it out.”
And Colonel and Dame Kelly Holmes added: “It’s one of the most tragic days that anyone alive today can even imagine or even imagine. I’ve served two times for my country in the military as well as being athlete at the top of my game, I’ve sung and enjoyed the privilege of hearing the national anthem performed as I was awarded these honors and awards. This is someone who I’m not sure we’ll experience the full impact of losing until but we will be aware of it fast.
“She’s just a woman who has literally, as she said, served to her dying day. If you think about that strength of character – the 70 years she has reigned – just everything about her and what she stood for, especially for women, to reign for that long. And her dedication to us. And even the thought of singing the National Anthem without saying The Queen is upsetting, it’s so upsetting.”
She said: “The day was always going to be inevitable, as it is with anybody’s life, but it’s not something any of us wanted to happen and it’s so sad.”
