David Hide doesn’t have any other options
This week, Nurse David Hide’s nightmare is made worse by his ex-wife’s interview on their murderer son. Rosalene has stood up for Ollie, the school shooter, in a magazine that features a photo of David and his son as the cover.
The consequences are immediate. David’s girlfriend Susan Kellmer, his new girlfriend, dumps him because he lies about who he really is. Soon after, Zoe Tranter, the mother of Ollie’s accomplice Rob, is admitted to the ED for a suspected overdose. David believes it is because of the horror at their children’s actions, and he reveals that he feels exactly what she feels.
Revelations, accusations and hard truths
The episode begins with Susan arriving at ED, looking desperately for David, and then clutching the damning magazine. He is found asleep in the call room, and she furiously bats at him with the article. Behind all the fury is Susan ( EastEnders ) who is deeply upset that the man she has trusted with her most intimate aspects of her life and been open with her about her feelings.
Following the public split with Susan, Dylan Keogh (William Beck), clinical lead for Dylan Keogh, urges David to return home. David refuses to leave, despite the ED breaking point and Zoe’s ailing mother, setting off a series of difficult and confronting events that will impact the medic.
Later, David gets into a heated argument with Rob’s mother and father, Jack Tranter (Coronation Street and The Bill), played by Simon Lenagan and Amanda Horlock (EastEnders and The Larkins). Each party is dealing with the consequences of their children’s actions in very different ways and believes that the other’s son was responsible for the school shooting. But they still don’t know a lot.
The arrival of Tristan (Adam Seridji), will shed light on these terrible events?
Chaos ED
The ED is overcrowded. It’s Derby Day, and Holby City and Holby united face off on the pitch. Injured fans take to the hospital.
