A mother of an NHS worker tragically died from Covid-19 just a week after giving birth. She has spoken out about how she is anxious to see her family again.
Becky Regan was pregnant when she contracted the virus and unfortunately, she died in February 2021 after giving birth to her fourth child.
Chronicle Live reports that Becky, a 29-year-old Northumberland resident, had been working at North Tyneside Hospital from January 2020.
Becky’s mother Tracey Buckland moved back from London to take full custody of her youngest child Jasmine.
Becky’s three other daughters, ages ten, nine, and four, are also cared for by her.
Tracey, 54, said that Tracey had promised her that she would take care of her girls.
It’s really difficult. The girls are very upset right now. The four-year old keeps claiming that all she wants for Christmas, is her mam.
“This was Becky’s favorite time of the year. She always went above and beyond her purse strings.
“She used wrapping paper to decorate her entire home and said the elves did it.
“I tried to do the same for her.”
“I hope she looks down at me and thinks I’m doing well, but I feel like my work is not enough.
“I try to be brave but it doesn’t happen. I don’t want Christmas because then Jasmine’s birthday is and Becky’s Anniversary.
“I have been brave all the way, but it is just this time of the year.
Louise Bailey, Becky’s ex-colleague, works at the hospital as a postroom porter. She has started an online fundraising campaign to help Becky’s Christmas girls.
Tracey stated that it would be a great help. Becky’s colleagues were absolutely amazing – they bought everything to help this baby.
“My husband and I had great jobs, but we have been moving up here to make nothing.
“The entire situation is horrible. Sometimes, I don’t know how to get up in the morning.
Louise stated that she had arranged for a collection after Becky’s death. She felt it would be a nice way to relieve some of the pressure at this time of the year.
“What happened was absolutely terrible. Becky was friendly and lovely.
“She was pregnant and we had a short conversation about names for babies.
“When you work in a place like this, everyone knows everyone and people tend to look after each other.”
